I wish the idea of a flat earth was not just a myth of the past, but a fact of the present. Thoughts of leaving the safety of land would seem so threatening and dangerous. There'd be more to fear than just fading colors or marks of age. Lovers and friends would creep close to the edge of the earth and dangle their feet off into what might be infinity. Those words in books would be more than just letters in sequence. Nothing else would matter as long as they knew that they would be caught if they fell.
